Kilmarnock Station Roof Canopy

Client Network Rail
Value £850,000
Location Ayrshire

Requirements

The existing station glass canopy at Kilmarnock Station needed to be replaced.

Approach

The existing glass panels were removed, steelwork cleaned and painted, and new polycarbonate panels installed.

Work undertaken by Covanburn included:

  • Setting up compound and storage areas
  • Erection of scaffold towers and use of MEWP’s
  • Taking down and replacing the existing station canopy glazing with polycarbonate system by Twinfix.
  • Prepping of existing canopy steelwork and re-painting.
  • Renewal of guttering system

As principal contractors on the project, part of Covanburn’s work was to guarantee that the required safety measures were in place. Works were being carried out under both railway possessions and High Street Environment working, so it was essential to allow the station and surrounding businesses to remain fully open and accessible during normal operating times.
