Stone Cleaning & Surface Conservation
Preserving the integrity of historic buildings and monuments requires a careful approach, which includes stonework restoration and conservation. While heritage stone cleaning makes huge aesthetic improvements to facades and structures, it must be done gently and sensitively.
Doff and Torc Cleaning
Covanburn are an approved contractor for Doff and Torc cleaning systems. These non-abrasive stone cleaning systems use steam, air pressure, water and inert granulate to remove paint, staining and discolouration from stone.
What is the Difference Between the Doff and Torc Systems?
- Doff Stone Cleaning is a gentle form of steam cleaning which is effective at removing paint, staining and discolouration.
- Torc Stone Cleaning is an even gentler process which works by creating a swirling vortex, using a mixture of low air pressure, water and an inert granulate.
Both products are supplied by UK-based company Stonehealth Ltd. They are hugely effective at restoring stone structures and facades with 0% surface damage. These systems thereby support the long-term conservation of historic buildings without compromising on appearance.
