We were appointed to carry out substantial restoration works at the historic Peel Park in East Dunbartonshire after our client, East Dunbartonshire Council, saw signs of deterioration in the park and understood the importance of preserving its historical structures for future generations.
The park is home to the Hudson Fountain, bandstand and lampposts, all crafted by the Lion Foundry, a celebrated former local manufacturer which also made the UK’s famous red telephone boxes. The Lion Foundry was known for the quality of its cast iron structures and leaves an important legacy in Kirkintilloch.
We have the significant in-house engineering skill and knowledge required for ornamental fountain repair which made us the perfect partner for this kind of restoration project.
The park, established in 1898, also hosts the remains of a significant Roman fort and is a stop on the Antonine Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site. Peel Park sits on an elevated site above Kirkintilloch and offers stunning views over the surrounding area. It’s well worth a visit.
