Requirements

The MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) and greenspace area, known as ‘The Cage’ is located in Rutherglen and requires extensive work to be carried out.

After receiving funding from the Big Lottery, a feasibility study was carried out on the area to ascertain how the Cage could be refurbished.

As a result of the feasibility study, the Big Lottery awarded money under the Our Place Project, a five year project covering seven areas.

The initiative is all about people working together to make their community a better place.

Main project requirements:

  • The removal of the existing MUGA, fencing and all associated furniture
  • Re-levelling the existing area including greenspace area
  • Installation of drainage
  • New playing surface which includes a five-a-side football pitch, basketball hoops, blackboards and ‘Holland’ goals, an interactive ‘Sutu’ football wall and court, outdoor gym equipment
  • New fixed play area with wetpour surfacing
  • The area will also incorporate a secure growing area, storage unit, water collection system and raised beds
  • Paving and landscaping of the area

Work starts imminently, and we will keep you posted on our progress…
