Hamilton Palace Play Area

Client South Lanarkshire Council
Value Circa £187k
Location South Lanarkshire

Scope of works

The project involved construction of a new play area and carpark. The works consisted of installing a bow top fenced play area with a variety of safety surfaces. The surfaces included wetpour with concrete edging, play chips with timber logs edging and grass matting. Robinia Play Systems were installed along with seating and timber structures. The Robinia Play Systems concept draws on the idea of creating huge play value with simple structures. The carpark and access road were constructed from cellular plastic grids and filled with soil and sand and grass. Trees were planted to create screen at the rear side of the play area.

Environmental & Community Benefits

Unused excavated soil was used for mound creation on site. Trees were planted to create a screen at the rear side of the play area. The play area is a welcome addition to the community and provides a range of play opportunities for various ages as well as a selection of inclusive equipment such as a wheelchair accessible roundabout, basket swing, sensory items and multiunit with ramp access.
