Arbroath Play Area

Client Angus Council
Value £500,000
Location Angus

Requirements

The area for this project was initially a grass park, with nothing more than some planting beds and a few benches. The new West Links Play Area is now alive with play equipment which was selected by children from local schools, and includes three huge shelter walls standing tall around the park.

Approach

Works undertaken by Covanburn included:

  • Installation of play equipment
  • Additional path networks
  • Laying of Mayfair paving slabs
  • Supply and installation of handmade timber benches
  • Manufacture and installation of bowtop fencing with gates around new play area
  • Provision of signage erected onto the gates
  • The design and build of shelter walls
  • Treatment and painting of shelter walls
  • Supply and installation of 500m of pathway kerbs
  • Tree planting

The promenade is used by local residents, so this meant that we had to take a number of precautions to ensure the disruption to the locals was minimized, and that the works were undertaken in the safest possible manner to prevent any injuries to the locals.

Throughout the works we kept a close relationship with the client and had numerous phased handovers and inspections of the proposed area of works for completion and sign off when she was happy that the works were completed to the required standard.

The local community now boasts an area where children can enjoy the fun of the play park and parents have the benefit of the great sea view.
